Kick It In The Sticks is not country. Enough said, this is not country.
I don't care how good of a rock song it is, it's not country.
Stop it with the rap, stop it with the pop, keep my country country for God's sakes.

Big & Rich: That's Why I pray
Not really a country sound but awesome all the same:
That's why I pray
Some stupid video posted as a joke, somebody’s life gets ruined // Out of everything we can create // Where is the cure to keep the sick from losing // Babies having babies ’cause their parents are always gone // Somehow we have forgotten how to make a house a home
And sadly these lyrics will still go over people's heads.
The lyrics are really good... I will admit however, like I said it doesn't sound 'country' and to be honest the music gets on my nerves. Kinda a shame such a good message, such a bad sound.

KRISTEN KELLY AND THE MODERN DAY DRIFTERS - Ex-old Man
This is love.
The Song.
"I got an ex-old man and an ex-best girlfriend, Took his ring off my finger, gave him back his last name So don't judge me, I'm doing the best I can"
Her singing style isn't the style of country right now. It gives me flash back to songs like 'Who's bed have your boots been under.'
I applaud this singer for not sounding like everyone else like the 'new' country singers of the day. Keep it up Miss Kelly, I can't wait to see where your career goes from here. You can bet I'll be listening.

Beers Ago- Toby Keith
Beers Ago unofficial video.
I would say I think I got this one... but I don't. This falls into the 'Country a language into it's self' section.
For the most part yeah, it makes sense, but others, not so much. Rather then copy the whole song over I'm going to just go with the lines that I honestly have no idea what they mean.
"On the second runner up of the 4H pageant" ? Help? Ideas? Maybe?
"Where the man in the moon works his magic" I assume he means moonshine here, but why "And go get your girl and go make the drag If you’re lucky you can take her cross the railroad tracks" Are we drag racing or doing drugs or what here? I assume not dressing in drag. And why take her across the tracks? I dunno if you know going across train tracks is really the right way to put a girl in the mood, even with moonshine in hand, unless you're going across the tracks to get the moonshine, then you're going elsewhere? I just don't know.
All lyrics used here are (C) Toby Keith and whoever wrote the song.

Dog Days
Below is a list of country songs comparing people (be it the singers or someone else) to dogs. I purposely left out any songs that speak of dogs such as 'Old Red' as that's not the purpose of this list. This list may be edited down the road from here if I come across any more songs. If anyone knows of any that fit the theme of this list please suggest them via the comments and I'll edit them in.
List:
Billy Ray Cyrus - Ain't Your Dog
Toby Keith - Every Dog Has Its Day (not official)
Billy Currington- Like My Dog (not official)

Country, a language onto it's own? Part 1
I don't have as much time as I'd like to really go into this right now, so this is going to be broken into a few short parts.
Eric Church- Drink in My Hand.
"I take my jacked up drop her down in 4x4" I've had this line in my head for a while, and I realized I was unconsciously singing it out loud. While I have Skype open.
Now not that bad of a thing, but I'm the only one that I know of on there that lives in the 'south' and as such probably the only one who's heard this song. Still not bad, but I do have to wonder, if any of them heard that line, would they actually understand it? I do, I'm sure a lot of people that listen to country music do. But other people?
"Chill down a long neck, warm up the band" A bit clearer, but again, it makes sense to me, but to others?
I could leave it here and not actually explain those lines, but I'll be nice.
"I take my jacked up drop her down in 4x4"- jacked up= pick up truck, one with those big tires so it's jacked up higher then normal; drop her down in 4x4= put it in 4 wheel drive.
"Chill down a long neck, warm up the band- Should be easy, cool off a beer, not going to explain 'warm up the band'

Drunk On You- Luke Bryan
Another example of lyrics not matching the song beat.
Drunk on You
Not sure what I expected, but it wasn't a love-song-ish-thing. First few seconds of the song I was thinking again it would be a sad song.
Take the music, remix it with a woman singer, and different lyrics, make it about a lost love, bam instant winner. Take the lyrics to this one, speed up music a bit, add a better beat, yep another winner.
Really I wish singers would listen to their own songs before they released them on the radio... or maybe that's the problem here...

The Breath You Take - George Strait
Saddest 'happy' country song I've ever heard.
Lyrics are decent, the music choice quite frankly sucks.
Take a listen.
I hear that music and I instantly want to start crying.
Is the song really that sad? Nope. The only part that is a bit sad is: "Just like it took my breath away when dad took his last that morn" Understandably sad, every song will be sad when dad/daddy dies. The rest though? Happy moments with dad? I think not if you go by the music.
Really, almost any music selection would have better fit this song.

Craig Campbell- When I Get It
When I Get It
Not to sure if this will really work, but hey it's worth a try right?
Could almost be the theme for a good many of people today. Not putting people down or anything but ya know, back in the real world.
Country music has almost always told stories about the truth, how it is. It may have run off down the road to an ideal fantasy for a bit, but I'm glad to see it's getting back to it's roots a bit more now.

Fear for the future of country
It's been said to me people can no longer tell the difference between 'country' and 'rock' and I can see why. I just heard a song and had it not been for a 'twang' I would have thought I was listening to a rock station.
Nothing wrong with putting some drive in your country, just don't forget your roots.

Over played artists
Alan Jackson is apparently coming to my area for a concert. How did I know? They played two of his songs randomly in the same hour.
Now I do like Alan, really I do, but I don't want to hear non stop Alan Jackson songs for the next few weeks.
I get that the radio stations are happy someone is 'coming to town' but really playing 2-4 of their songs an hour does not make me want to see them at all. By the time I'd get to that concert I'd be so sick and tired of them I'd probably leave as soon as I heard one of the songs they've over played.
I do know Alan has loads of songs, some of them you never hear on the radio, and I would be fine with over playing them IF they would play all of his songs. When was the last time anyone played Litte Bitty, Chasing That Neon Rainbow, or even www.memory? (Never actually heard www.memory on the radio before actually...)

Giddy On Up - Laura Bell Bundy
In the course of 'Giddy On Up' how many times does Laura tell him to leave, only then to tell him to 'sit back down' cause she's not finished yelling at him.
Wishy, washy? 'Go away then wait a minute' mentality?
